True to our roots
Arawak Walton has a proud heritage in helping to create vibrant and sustainable multi-cultural neighbourhoods in inner city areas.
With more than 40 years experience, we understand the challenges of social deprivation and exclusion and have worked hard to provide good quality, affordable housing to our residents, regardless of age, gender or race.
We are proud of what we have achieved so far and we are committed to continuing this good work, exploring all opportunities to ensure the communities we create continue to be both safe havens and places to thrive.
We are passionate about what we do and we are passionate about people.
We employ a small team of highly trained and committed staff members and we support thousands of people in over 1100 homes across Manchester, Stockport and Trafford.
We are now the largest independent black and minority ethnic (BME) Housing Association in the North West, with an asset base of around £37.5 million and turnover in the region of £7 million.
We aim to stay true to our roots, continuing to deliver good quality, affordable housing and services to support our local communities.
Our role in the community
We know that creating stronger communities cannot be achieved alone. That’s why Arawak Walton works closely with organisations, networks and partnerships at local, regional and national level. We are proud to be part of the Manchester Housing Providers Partnership (MHPP), working alongside other housing providers and Manchester City Council to improve housing outcomes and tackle the challenges facing communities across the city. We are also part of Greater Manchester Housing Providers (GMHP), working collectively with housing providers across the city region to help shape housing policy, investment and opportunities for residents and communities.
Our involvement in these partnerships, alongside networks such as BME National, the National Housing Federation, the North West Housing Forum and other local and regional groups, gives us the opportunity to share knowledge, influence positive change and make sure the voices and needs of the communities we serve are heard. By working together, we can use our collective experience and influence to address wider issues, strengthen communities and help shape the future of housing across Greater Manchester and beyond.
